From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pogba appears to have concentrated on pre-season, with Juan Mata revealing the French midfielder is not allowing speculation to distract him.
“He’s a fantastic midfielder and he’s a very good guy,” the 31-year-old added.
“I think he’s happy. Obviously as a team-mate, and as a friend also, I would like him to stay and to be happy because he is a very good player for us.
“We know we have to do better than last season. This club has won more trophies than any other club in England.”
West Brom have confirmed the singing of defender Darnell Furlong from QPR.
The right-back signs a four-year-deal for a fee thought to be £1.5 million and becomes the club's fourth summer signing.
Millwall have announced the signing of Republic of Ireland U21 captain Jayson Molumby on a season-long-loan from Brighton.
“I’m absolutely over the moon,” Molumby said.
“I would’ve liked to get here a little bit earlier in fact, but I had a little injury to begin with. But now I’m here, I’m buzzing to get going with the season coming along quickly.''
“What I wanted coming into the season was to get out on loan, and Millwall seems the perfect fit for me.”
