One big transfer saga that will conclude this week is the future of Leroy Sane.

Our Chief Football Writer Miguel Delaney was at the Community Shield yesterday and wrote this about the young German:

In a generally relaxed press conference, it was one moment when Pep Guardiola got visibly annoyed. That, of course, was from a question about Leroy Sane. Guardiola had been asked whether he’d had an argument with the forward after Manchester City’s Community Shield, as they were seen animatedly talking.

“I was concerned about his injury,” the Catalan snapped back, shaking his head and muttering.

Guardiola reckons that Sane will be “OK” after having gone off in the 10th minute of the eventual shoot-out victory over Liverpool, but is just another element that serves to further complicate what is already a complex situation, that Guardiola’s very reaction hinted at.

In all of that, as City remarkably may be willing to sell one of the Premier League’s most electric young players, only one thing is absolutely certain.

Bayern Munich badly want Sane.

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is hopeful of finalising a deal for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku in the coming days.

The Italian club have been chasing Lukaku all summer and have reportedly returned with a fresh bid of around £65million as they try and get the deal over the line.

They have until September 1 to sign the Belgium striker, who has not played a single minute of United's pre-season campaign, and Conte is hopeful of bringing the 26-year-old to the San Siro.

"We continue to work on it in the best possible way," he said after his side drew 1-1 at Tottenham in a pre-season friendly.

"I understand there are some gaps that need to be filled but at the moment I am very hopeful that this will happen.

"At the same time I'm working with a great group of players that gives me lots of satisfaction."

An obstacle in Inter's chase of the Belgian would be a possible swap deal between United and Juventus that could see Paulo Dybala move to Old Trafford in exchange for Lukaku, although on Sunday it was reported their pursuit of the Argentinian was over.

"Honestly I can't know, I don't know," the former Chelsea boss added. "I'm reading (about) this swap in the papers.

"For sure Lukaku, we are talking about a good player, a striker that in the past I tried to buy when I was Chelsea's coach.

"We're talking about two big clubs, Juventus and Inter Milan, but honestly I don't know. Only my way is to work with this group of players, to try to improve this group and instil the right mentality."

Manchester United still hope to sign Mario Mandzukic despite the collapse of Romelu Lukaku’s move to the Serie A champions, according to reports.

The Sun claim that United have hopes of signing the Croatia international on a separate deal, as Juventus look to free up some of their wage budget.

The 33-year-old had an important first-team role last season, making 33 first-team appearances, but could find chances hard to come by next season.

Sessegnon was not part of Fulham's squad for their defeat against Barnsley on the opening day of the Championship, fueling speculation that he will join Spurs before Thursday's transfer deadline.
