Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The transfer window may have shut in England but for clubs in France, Germany, Italy and Spain the drama is only just getting started.
A number of Europe’s biggest clubs still have plenty of business left to conclude. Juventus are looking to offload Paulo Dybala while the future of Neymar – the most expensive player in the history of the game – is still up in the air. Could he yet leave PSG for a return to Spain?
English clubs can still sell players so expect plenty of movement before the end of the month.
Transfer deadlines
Italy’s Serie A is the next big transfer deadline. The Italian window shuts on 23 August.
The transfer window in La Liga, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 meanwhile shuts on 2 September.

Here's Huddersfield manager Jan Siewert on the club's latest recruit:
Fraizer joins us on the back of some good form in the Championship last season and straight away is an option with pedigree at this level. He’s a great guy with a lot of experience and growing up in Huddersfield means he really gets the area and knows exactly what we’re all about. I know there will be an instant connection with the supporters and I’m sure they will give him their full backing as one of their own.
