Welcome along to Thursday’s transfer news live with the latest rumours, gossip and done deals from the Premier League and around Europe. There are a number of top players primed for a move and ready to contribute immediately, but as Manchester United have proven with the signing of Amad Diallo, the best young talents in the world are always on the radar of the top clubs, including Palmeiras wonder kid Gabriel Veron. One of the priorities in the final week of the window will be to shed any dead weight, to streamline the squad and ensure the atmosphere in the group remains as good as possible.

Today’s rumour mill involves Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Southampton in particular, while Danny Ings, who has transformed his career at Southampton, and Nico Barella, Inter Milan’s midfield phenomenon, are the most valuable names doing the rounds over the last 24 hours.

Dele Alli remains out of favour at Spurs under Jose Mourinho and Paris Saint-Germain could offer him a lifeline this month under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, having fallen out of form and therefore out of the picture for England ahead of Euro 2020.  PSG of course must be conscious of securing the long-term futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, with Real Madrid lurking after the Frenchman resisted signing a new contract.

Manchester United meanwhile could reward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for positioning the club in the thick of the title picture, though there could be many outgoings at Old Trafford, too, with Juan Mata linked to his former club Valencia.

Mesut Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce, United’s deal to bring in Amad Diallo from Atalanta and Sebastian Haller’s big-money deal to leave West Ham for Ajax rank among the most significant deals of January so far. Follow all the latest developments below.

LIVERPOOL OFFERED BEST BID FOR ALABA

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on where Bayern Munich’s David Alaba could land when he becomes a free agent this summer. He said:

They have the agreement, the pre-contract with David Alaba is absolutely ready, so there is like a verbal agreement between Alaba and Real Madrid for a four-year contract, his salary will be around €12 million per season after taxes, so there is the agreement between Alaba and Real Madrid,

“Yes, we mentioned five clubs interested in David Alaba, and I can confirm that around five clubs contacted his agent, so as a top free agent David Alaba was hearing from many bids, his priority has always been Real Madrid,

“The best bid, talking about from an economical side, was from Liverpool, they made an important bid to sign David Alaba, also PSG were so interested to sign David Alaba.”

ORIGI OFFERED TO INTER MILAN

Liverpool striker Divock Origi is set to be loaned out to Italy.

Corriere dello Sport are claiming that Inter Milan and Antonio Conte have been offered the chance to sign Origi on loan.

If Origi does leave Liverpool it will be as a back up for his Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku and it’s not sure whther he would want to do that.

CLUBS TO FACE MINOR PUNISHMENTS

The ‘agreement’ between West Ham and West Brom not to feature Robert Snodgrass in their fixture last night isn’t within the letter of the law but reports are saying that the clubs will be given a warning and maybe a minor fine for the breach.

AGBONLAHOR BACKS INGS TO STAY AT SAINTS

A move away from St. Marys could be on the cards for Southampton’s Danny Ings as he looks to secure European football next season. Tottenham and Arsenal are said to be interested in the striker who is Southampton’s leading goalscorer this season.

Former England and Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor spoke about Ings’ potential move and told talkSPORT:

It’s very tough, isn’t it? You see what happened at Liverpool with him. He didn’t get much game time.

“Southampton is a club he feels at home at and he’s playing football and getting into the England squad.

“Does he want to move now and play second choice to Harry Kane at Spurs? That could cost him a place at the Euros!

“For me, I’d stay where I am and try and come to an agreement with Southampton.

“He would suit Arsenal at the moment. You look at [Alexandre] Lacazette and he’s come into some decent form, but you put Ings into that Arsenal team at the moment and he would definitely score goals.

“But Southampton fans may argue that Southampton might finish above Arsenal this season.

“He’s probably thinking to himself, ‘I’m on fire here, I’m scoring week in, week out, and I’m one of the better strikers in the league, so this is my chance at 28 to get that massive deal and sign a four or five-year contract’.

“You want what you’re worth. If you’re speaking to other players and they’re earning a certain amount, he’ll be thinking, ‘I deserve the money’.

“As much as he loves it at Southampton, if it’s his last big pay day he’s probably thinking I need to get it.”

DYCHE GIVES BURNLEY TRANSFER UPDATE

Sean Dyche has been speaking about Burnley’s transfer policy and how he’s hopeful that some business may be done by the end of the transfer window. He said:

People have often said 'they need to go and get a goalscorer', but do you know how much they cost?

"So unless someone gives me that amount of money, trust me, we'll be working hard with the players we've got and believe in.

"If you look at our goalscorers, then you've seen the money we've spent on them, so we would have to have more than that because the market has gone up since then.

We're still working in the market and keeping our options open to where we think a possible situation could arise.

"It's likely more things start happening later in the window, but we'll see."

BUENDIA TO STAY AT NORWICH

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia have taken a hit after the Argentine confirmed his desire to stay at Carrow Road until the end of the season.

Mikel Arteta has identified the 24-year-old as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, who is set to join Fenerbahce on Friday after agreeing to terminate his contract with the Gunners.

Buendia has seven goals and six assists for Norwich this term and he believes he is a Premier League-level player playing in the Championship.

However, Buendia is keen to fulfill his promise of staying with the Canaries this season and he wants to help the club return to the top division before departing, according to Goal.

LIVERPOOL BACK IN RACE FOR TRAORE

Liverpool are once again interested in signing Wolves’ Adama Traore whose future at Molineux is uncertain amid ongoing contract talks.

The winger’s current contract ends in 2023 but the club and player have been been locked in negotiations over a new deal for weeks.

Liverpool were interested in signing Traore last year but were put off by Wolves' £90m asking price. However, Spanish outlet Sport, say the uncertainty about his contract and his drop in form mean Wolves' asking price has dropped considerably to about £35m.

Traore has provided just one assist and has failed to score a single goal in the Premier League this season.
