At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Paris Saint-Germain are taking on Barcelona tonight at the Parc des Princes aiming to clinch their place in the Champions League quarter-finals. PSG won the first leg 4-1 at the Camp Nou thanks to a Kylian Mbappe hat-trick and are in pole position to finish off the tie and book their spot in the last eight.

Barcelona will have ambitions over pulling off another famous comeback like they did against the same opponents four years ago in the knockout stages of this competition, when they won 6-1 at the Camp Nou to turn around a 4-0 deficit. However, this time it feels even more unlikely given the how impressive PSG were in the first leg and given their is no raucous home crowd to cheer them on. Manager Ronald Koeman says anything is possible with Lionel Messi in the team, but surely this game is a step too far even for the great man.

Watch Messi’s brilliant strike for Barcelona

PSG 1-1 BARCELONA (72’)

Trincao does well to reach the byline on the right and fire a cross into the box. It comes to Messi, who tries to pass instead of shoot and fails to pick out a teammate.

More impressive defending from Marquinhos to deny Messi as Dembele crosses from the left. Then Navas makes a smart save to deny a header from Busquets at the near post.

PSG 1-1 BARCELONA (68’)

Messi scampers down the right and lifts a cross towards the back post. But it floats disappointingly behind for a goal kick. Barcelona need to find a goal from somewhere very soon.

PSG 1-1 BARCELONA (66’)

Barca work the ball neatly around the edge of the box but Busquets’ through ball towards Griezmann is just too long. Koeman has sent on Trincao for Dest.

Chance! Alba picks out Messi in space, six yards out from goal, but Marquinhos slides in to make a superb block as the Argentine swivels and shoots. Griezmann then tries to dig out a shot but he’s crowded out and PSG clear.

Mbappe threatens to race away on the counter attack but Griezmann, of all people, tracks back and dispossesses him.

PSG 1-1 BARCELONA (55’)

Alba floats a ball into the box but Navas reads it and claims easily. Paredes has been booked for an earlier foul, so he’ll miss the quarter-finals if PSG progress.
