Both newly-promoted sides were looking to bounce back from opening-weekend defeats, and it was the hosts who found themselves on the right side of a 4-3 thriller following last weekend’s defeat by Liverpool.
Helder Costa put Marcelo Bielsa’s side ahead early before Aleksandar Mitrovic equalised from the spot. A penalty followed up the other end, however, with Mateusz Klich also netting. Costa scored his second of the day in the latter half before Bamford added Leeds’ fourth, and although Bobby Decordova-Reid’s strike and a second for Mitrovic set up a dramatic finish, the hosts emerged with the win.
