From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Jadon Sancho announced himself on the international stage in some style, scoring twice on a night when England's ruthless edge made up for some shambolic defending in a thrilling, high-scoring win against Kosovo.

A sell-out St Mary's crowd bore witness to the most entertaining qualifier in many a year as Gareth Southgate's men continued their march to Euro 2020 with an enthralling, if at times unconvincing, 5-3 victory on the south coast.

Defensive errors gifted Kosovo a shock opener and then second-half hope, but a clinical first half proved decisive as Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane goals were complemented by an own goal and quickfire brace from Sancho in a helter-skelter clash.

Now Sancho, with a first-half brace to his name, makes way for Rashford.

More chances go to waste for England! Mount sets Rashford clear down the left and his shot is saved by Muric. Sterling looks certain to tap in the rebound but somehow clears the crossbar from a couple of yards out. Thankfully, the flag is up for offside anyway.

So close for Celina! He sets off on a brilliant run, weaving down the left and cutting inside before curling a shot towards the bottom corner. Pickford stretches but can get nowhere near it, and watches as the ball flashes just wide.

Rashkaj has been booked for an earlier challenge on Mount in the buildup to Rashford's chance. It's a dreadful tackle, high and reckless, and could easily have brought a red card.

There'll be five minutes of added time.

Full time: That's it! An incredible game comes to an end. England do just enough to secure victory and move clear at the top of Group A. But Kosovo deserve a lot of credit for their second half display. At 5-1 down with 45 minutes played, they could easily have succumbed to a heavy defeat. But they rallied and played some excellent, attacking football after the break.

England, meanwhile, will be pleased with their attacking output, particularly from Sterling. But there are still concerns defensively.
