Chelsea could still add more new faces before the summer transfer deadline closes next month.

The Blues have spent more than £200million so far with Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell the headline arrivals in a busy summer at Stamford Bridge. Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr have also joined as Frank Lampard looks to shape the squad into what he hopes will be title challengers.

There could be more to come too. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is set to arrive from Rennes in a £22million deal to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga who endured another torrid afternoon against Liverpool blighted by another costly mistake. They could yet test West Ham’s resolve over Declan Rice too with Lampard known to be a big admirer. There is likely to be exits too with N’golo Kante linked with Inter Milan, Tiemoue Bakayoko with PSG and Fikayo Tomori a possible loan departure to Everton. We’ll have all the latest for you throughout the day.

CHILWELL COULD MAKE DEBUT TOMORROW NIGHT

Ben Chilwell will be in the Chelsea squad to play against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Frank Lampard has confirmed that the left-back - as well as defender Thiago Silva - is back fit having joined the club with an injury.

Chelsea signed the 23-year-old for a fee of £45m from Leicester last month.

MENDY HAVING MEDICAL ‘AS WE SPEAK'

Edouard Mendy is having a medical “as we speak”, Frank Lampard has revealed.

"Subject to that being OK then he will become our player," Lampard said - quoted by ESPN.

LAMPARD ON GOALKEEPER COMPTETION

Frank Lampard has also opened up on what Edouard Mendy’s arrival might mean for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

“I don't know what benefits in the long run, football is in your hands. Competition is a regular thing. We have brought Mendy in for that competition. It's in everyone's hands to get into the squad,” the Chelsea boss said.

"I think it is the hardest position, because of the individual nature of it. I have to be sympathetic to that point. Last year I changed it a few times, it's a different thought process. We are always striving for the best performance."

“Petr was important in that,” Lampard said in his press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Barnsley. “It's a particular position and he has had a big say and was very instrumental.”

COLE SAYS CHELSEA WILL NEED TO ‘BE PATIENT’ WITH NEW SIGNINGS

Ashley Cole has called for patience with Chelsea’s new signings after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool.

Of the Blues’ summer arrivals, only Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have played so far, and Cole has insisted there is plenty more to come.

“How much quality they have there is frightening and exciting at the same time," he told Sky Sports.

“Yes, we’ve added loads of quality into the team. With Thiago Silva, we’ve added experience as well.

“We’re going to have to be patient at times to wait for them to gel. It’s definitely looking way more exciting than it was towards the late stage of last season.”

The rights were held through a company based in the British Virgin Islands.

A spokesperson for Abramovich has insisted no third-party ownership rules were broken, though former Football Association chairman Lord Triesman has questioned the conduct.

JUVENTUS WANT CHELSEA LEFT-BACK

Juventus are interested in out of favour Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 26-year-old is behind both Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and could leave before the close of the transfer window.

Juventus are reportedly hoping to sign Emerson on an initial loan deal, though they may look to sell left-back Mattia De Sciglio in order to make space in the squad.
