From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Neil Warnock's side needed to win at home to stand any chance of catching Brighton and Hove Albion, who sit four points above the Bluebirds ahead of their Sunday encounter with Arsenal.
But Palace were always on the front foot early on and took the lead through Wilfried Zaha, and despite a Martin Kelly own goal levelling the scores, Michy Batshuayi soon restored the advantage. Andros Townsend added a third in the second half that proved to be the final nail in the coffin, and while Cardiff scored a late consolation through Bobby Reid, their relegation to the Championship was confirmed soon after. Bournemouth vs Spurs
A lack of discipline cost Spurs the three points. They were dominant in the first half and were only denied a goal due to some outstanding saves from Mark Travers.
Son lost the plot and Foyth made a really bad challenge. Bournemouth weren't great themselves though and a moment of brilliance from Nathan Ake gave them the late win.
Tottenham will have to beat Everton next week now to make the top four.
For Wolves and West Ham, they are playing for League position. Wolves have had a great season and could confirm seventh place for themselves with a win over Fulham.
West Ham and Southampton are basically playing an exhibition match.
Later on though is a huge game between Cardiff and Crystal Palace.
Cardiff are four points from safety, behind Brighton, and have to win both of their last two games to stay up.
First they need three points against Palace today before seeing off Manchester United on the last day of the season.
For Brighton they face Arsenal and Manchester City where points will be hard to come by.
Then in the late kick off, Newcastle host Liverpool.
The Premier League title could be sown up as soon as Monday if the Reds fail to beat Newcastle tonight and Man City defeat Leicester.
Rafa Benitez's team stand in Liverpool's way and in what could be Benitez's last game in charge at St James' Park, Newcastle will prove to be a difficult obstacle to overcome for Jurgen Klopp's men.
Factor in the fact that Liverpool have a mountain to climb on Tuesday as they try to overcome a three-goal deficit to Barcelona in the Champions League.
Alright, here we go for the 3pm kick offs. Fingers crossed for lots of goals.
West Ham 0 - 0 Southampton
Wolves 0 - 0 Fulham
Wolves 0 - 0 Fulham
Joe Bryan has the first chance for Fulham, he's 22-yards out from goal and he fires off a shot that comes too close to Rui Patrício who makes the save.
West Ham 0 - 0 Southampton
West Ham have a lot of possession but don't do anything with it, they're finding it hard to get past the halfway line in a rather slow start to the match.
West Ham 0 - 0 Southampton
That's more like it.
Southampton counter with Ings as he finds Armstrong inside the box to the right. He's seven or eight yards out, comes across the ball hits it well and flicks the crossbar.
Good chance for the Saints.
