Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Bournemouth and Tottenham met in a bad-tempered Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino's side could have guaranteed Champions League football with a win this afternoon but debutant goalkeeper Mark Travers and red cards for Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth left them with an uphill battle.

And Nathan Ake headed what proved to be the winner in injury time as the Cherries finished their season at home with a win and leave Spurs with work to do to secure a top four spot.

75 mins: Cardiff 1 - 3 Crystal Palace

A long ball forward for Cardiff is headed down to Zohore by De Cordova-Ried. Zohore slots it through to Mendez-Laing who wins a corner.

The corner leads to nothing but Cardiff keep the ball alive out on the right. Morrison gets it in the middle of the box, he lays it up for Mendez-Laing who fires one but McArthur clears it off the line.

Cardiff are staring down the barrel of the gun but they keep trying. Mendez-Laing puts another great cross into the back post. Hoilett hits it on the half-volley and sends it over the bar. Cardiff have had their chances today they just haven't taken them.

It's too late for Cardiff but De Cordova-Reid gets a consolation goal with a beautifully hit shot from the left of the box finding the bottom far corner.

That's it, the dream is over for Cardiff. They gave it everything they had but came up short. A win for Palace means the Bluebirds have been relegated from the Premier League.

Heartbreak for Cardiff but relief for Brighton who win safety due to Cardiff's defeat today.

One more game to go though and it's a big one. Newcastle vs Liverpool, team news coming next.
