Over the break it was one of their stars in Jack Grealish who was making all the headlines, shining with England and quickly becoming a favourite of the national team’s fans.
Domestically, Villa have won five of their seven games so far and a win will take them level with Leicester City, who went into the break top of the table.
Brighton have struggled to find an end product to go with their at-times excellent build-up play and have just one win from eight games so far, 16th in the table at the start of play. Follow the end of Newcastle vs Chelsea and the build-up to the game at Villa Park below:

A hint of an opportunity for Newcastle as Saint-Maximin is picked out in space on the left. He tries to backheel the ball towards Lewis, unmarked to his left, but Mendy rushes out to claim.
30 min
Chance! Mount picks out Abraham, who sets the ball into the path of Werner to break in on goal. He looks certain to slot his finish past Darlow, but drags the ball wide of the bottom left corner. Chelsea should be 2-0 up.
28 min
Speculative from Joelinton, who spots Mendy off his line and tries to lob him from the centre circle. He doesn’t get the height or the accuracy on it, though.
24 min
Close again! James is picked out on the right and curls an inviting low cross into the six-yard box. There’s just too much pace on it for Abraham and Werner.
21 min
This has the feel of a training game for Chelsea. There’s almost no pressure on the ball from Newcastle and apparently no desire to do anything other than defend their own box.
18 min
Chelsea continue to probe, camped in Newcastle’s half. This doesn’t seem like a sustainable approach from the home side.
15 min
Werner is really threatening on the left. He races in behind again, surging into the box before cutting the ball across the face of goal. Abraham is in the middle but can’t quite stretch enough to convert at the back post.
14 min
Newcastle look for a quick response but they’re struggling to really create anything of note. Murphy gets a shot off from the edge of the box. It’s easily blocked and Chelsea emerge with the ball.
10 min
GOAL! Newcastle 0-1 Chelsea (Fernandez OG)
Darlow can do nothing about this one! Chelsea take a short corner and Mount finds himself in space on the right flank. His ball across the face of goal is asking for a touch, but it comes from a Newcastle defender. Fernandez, under pressure from Chilwell, prods into his own net at the back post and the visitors lead.
