Arsenal tumbled to a 2-1 defeat against Lyon in the Emirates Cup after a familiar lapse of concentration undid Unai Emery’s side’s strong start.

After a strong start, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the Gunners a deserved lead, turning in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s rifled cross after 35 minutes.

However, the Gunners were made to pay for switching off in the second half when Moussa Dembele stole into the box unmarked to head home the equaliser. Nine minutes later, after Gabriel Martinelli’s effort was ruled outside, the French striker put Lyon ahead with a cool finish into the bottom corner. Relive all the action below.

What time does it start?

The Emirates Cup gets underway with Arsenal Women taking on Bayern Munich at 12:30pm, before the men’s side take on Lyon at 3:15pm.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on Premier Sport 1, with full coverage provided on The Independent.

Lyon felt somewhat aggrieved late in the half not to be awarded a penalty, but Arsenal had their own shout early in the game when Monreal went down in the visitors' box. Perhaps the two incidents balanced out in the end..?

Guendouzi is replaced by Eddie Nketiah as the second half gets underway. The 20-year-old who has already scored three goals in pre-season.

Lyon have also made some changes, with Moussa Dembele's appearance likely to delight the visiting fans.

Anthony Lopes, who made a fine stop in the first half to deny Mkhitaryan's goal-bound volley, is also off. The goalkeeper is replaced by Anthony Racioppi.

Lyon almost equalise! Dembele is immediately involved for the French side early in this second half. He cuts in on his left and slides a pass to Depay, whose right-footed shot is whipped just wide of Leno's left post. A strong start for Lyon.

Alex Pattle28 July 2019 16:28

Good save from Leno! Substitute Aouar's deflected effort is tipped round the post by Arsenal's German shot-stopper. Fine reactions there.

Alex Pattle28 July 2019 16:31

Nketiah should score!!! Willock's cross finds the young striker at the back post and he heads the ball straight down into the ground. A great chance wasted!

Alex Pattle28 July 2019 16:34

Again Nketiah has to do better! Nelson fizzes a cross in from the left. The low ball is there for Nketiah to tap in, but the 20-year-old can't sort out his feet and the ball rolls past Lyon's goal and to safety.

Alex Pattle28 July 2019 16:36

Nelson goes close this time! The Gunner sprints at goal before weaving his way into the box. He looks to bend a right-footed shot into the far bottom corner, but sees his shot go narrowly wide.

That's three great chances for Arsenal as the hour mark approaches.

Alex Pattle28 July 2019 16:38

Arsenal have to make one of these chances count! Nketiah turns wonderfully in the box and flicks an effort towards goal with the outside of his right boot.

This time he does not miss, but rather is denied as Racioppi spreads himself to save.

Further changes for Lyon.
