Leicester 0-1 Fulham: Aleksandar Mitrovic scores again as in-form Cottagers notch huge win
Aleksandar Mitrovic boosted Fulham’s European charge as the Cottagers downed Leicester City with a narrow win.
The striker fired Marco Silva’s side to a third-straight win after a 1-0 Premier League victory at the King Power Stadium. It left Fulham seventh in the Premier League on 28 points - the same amount they were relegated with in 2021 - and level with Liverpool.
The Cottagers are in dreamland, in contrast to the Foxes with boss Brendan Rodgers’ consistent reality checks still ringing true after a third-straight defeat.
Rodgers has always been insistent this season would be one of struggle and his side have reverted to their early form which saw his own position called into question. Youri Tielemans rattled the crossbar during an improved second half but it was Fulham’s fast start which ultimately sealed the points.

Fulham’s sole change comes at the back, with Tosin Adarabioyo coming in for Issa Diop at the heart of the defence. Main man Aleksandar Mitrovic missed a last-gasp penalty in the 2-1 win over Southampton, and the Serbian will be keen to make amends in this game against a notoriously shaky Foxes rearguard.

Patson Daka’s injury against Liverpool means veteran club legend Jamie Vardy will start in the Zambian’s place, while Youri Tielemans, knocked out earlier than expected with Belgium in the World Cup, comes into midfield for Wilfred Ndidi in the only other change from the XI at Anfield.

It’s been the opposite for eighth-placed Fulham though, who have won both their games since the World Cup break by the exact same scorelines. A 3-0 win at London rivals Crystal Palace came following two red cards for the hosts, while a late winner from Joao Palhinha saw them win 2-1 against Southampton last time out, despite Aleksandar Mitrovic missing a stoppage-time penalty.

Leicester’s return to domestic football after the World Cup couldn’t have started worse, with the Foxes losing their first two games back after the restart. A 3-0 home loss against Newcastle on Boxing Day was compounded by a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool four days later, with Liverpool’s goals coming via Leicester defender Wout Faes turning the ball into his own net, twice.
