Leeds United vs Everton LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction
Luis Sinisterra makes his first start under Jesse Marsch as Frank Lampard’s side look for a first win of the season
If taking over from Marcelo Bielsa seemed the most thankless task at Elland Road, replacing Raphinha was not far behind. The Brazilian may have been the most gifted footballer to play for Leeds since the generation who reached the 2001 Champions League semi-finals. Luis Sinisterra was charged with succeeding Barcelona’s £50 million buy and his first Premier League goal extended Leeds’ fine start to the season.
Even as his team missed the opportunity to break into the top four, Bielsa’s successor Jesse Marsch offered more evidence his overhaul will bear fruit. The chance to become the first Leeds side since Don Revie’s eventual champions of 1973-74 to win their first three top-flight home games of a campaign was eschewed but the Colombian’s strike brought echoes of Raphinha. Sinisterra looked the right man for the job.
And yet this was a tale of two goalscoring wingers and two summer transfer targets. Sinisterra has moved but Anthony Gordon, so far, has stayed.
Everton could be grateful for that.
Their third successive 1-1 draw was the second to feature a Gordon goal. But, on an evening when they contributed much, they could nevertheless rue the loss of the lead on the road for the second time in four days. This is their longest winless start to a season in 12 years and, with Liverpool next, the wait may go on.

Pickford gets away with another charge out of his six-yard box, as he makes a mess of punching the ball clear. Sinisterra is outnumbered, so Everton can get the ball clear.

Having skinned Kristensen on the left flank, Gordon charges towards the area, but is coldly chopped down by Koch. The Leeds defender was not going to let his opponent pass there, no matter what.

Rodrigo is helped off, taking on some pain relief as he goes. His game is now over, and Leeds will have to make a change up front.

After an arm-to-arm challenge between Pickford and Rodrigo, on the edge of the Everton area, the latter pulls up in apparent agony, and the game is eventually brought to a halt. It looks like a shoulder injury for the Leeds captain, who is receiving immediate medical attention.

Before today's match, Gordon had been credited with 48 per cent of Everton’s shots on target in the Premier League this season. He has now scored in consecutive top-flight appearances for the first time, having netted against Brentford on Saturday

In an elaborate display for the officials, Marsch wanders around his technical area with an arm aloft, pointing directly to his watch. The Leeds boss thinks Everton are already playing for time - Pickford was not particularly quick to take a goal-kick just now.
