Ipswich Town vs Nottingham Forest
What a performance by Nottingham Forest and what a way to celebrate Nuno Espirito Santo’s 50th league game in charge. It wasn’t an easy first 35 minutes but within six minutes it was. Milenkovic opens the scoring after he ensured that Ipswich’s poor clearance would be punished, then Elanga added two in a flash. His first attempt was a well-taken bending effort past Palmer and his second showcased another poor bit of Ipswich defending. Milenkovic hits the ball long and it goes all the way through for Elanga to control and finish. Ipswich are now nine points from safety after other results have gone against them, but they did get some glimmer of hope when Cajuste whipped an effort from just outside the box in. It was short-lived as Forest added a fourth through Jota, and with the game wrapped up and Forest enhancing their grip on Champions League football, Hirst added a second for Ipswich in added time. Forest dominated the ball and strong finishing was the difference with the away side recording an xG of 1.28 to Ipswich’s 0.48.
