From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Wales missed out on promotion to the top tier of the Nations League as Denmark won a passionate Cardiff contest 2-1.

Nicolai Jorgensen gave Denmark a half-time lead and Martin Braithwaite's superb volley two minutes from time doubled their advantage to seemingly end Welsh hopes.

But Gareth Bale's instant response, sliding home his 31st international goal after rounding Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, had the visitors hanging on at the end.

He opts to lay it off subtly into the path of Ryan Babel but the former Liverpool winger is less ready for it and his touch fails him.

Netherlands have the ball back anyway so it matters not.

58 mins: CHANCE! Wales 0-1 Denmark

What a bright spark this young lad, is.

David Brooks, the Bournemouth winger is making a real impact in the Premier League and the on form welshman is having a good game tonight.

He jinks his way on to his left-foot on the edge of the box, beating a few men in the process and his shot is bending, but sadly, too far away from the post.

Schmeichel seemed to think it was safe and going wide. He wasn't wrong.

Bit of argy bargy between Roberts and Stryger but the referee is quick to deal with it.

60 mins: CHANCE! Netherlands 1-0 France

Van Dijk almost doubled the Dutch lead, rising highest from a corner but his header flies narrowly over the bar.

One-way traffic still but Ronald Koeman will be hoping they add a second one sooner rather than later.

60 mins: Wales 0-1 Denmark

Lawrence is allowed room from 30 yards to unleash an effort at goal.

Sadly, his shot is easily saved by Schmeichel but it was on target and is progress.

62 mins: DOUBLE SAVE LLORIS! Netherlands 1-0 France

Dumfries has two bites at the cherry to beat Lloris after a great overlapping run and cross from Daley Blind but the Spurs stopper stood big and tall.

The first effort stopped was a powerful header but the ball fell into his path from a tight angle and he instinctively took another pop which Lloris was able to turn over for a corner.

Still waiting for France to show they're in a game here.

Netherlands 1-0 France

Double change sees Moussa Sissoko and Ousmane Dembele take the field, replacing Olivier Giroud and Blaise Matuidi.

Can the World Champions stem the Netherland attacks?

66 mins: CHANCE! Wales 0-1 Denmark

Tyler Roberts with the chance this time following Gunter's good cross on the left hand side.

The striker rises highest but it's hard to get the power and accuracy, instead seeing his effort go wide.

67 mins: PENALTY NOT GIVEN! Wales 0-1 Denmark

Hands all over Tyler Roberts, at least according to the fans anyway but no penalty given.

It's the last action of the game for the Welsh forward though, replaced by the toast of Dublin last time out, Harry Wilson.

Can he help salvage something for Wales?

68 mins: CORNER WALES!

They're building up ahead of steam now and could really do with a goal in this good spell.
