Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Germany were relegated from Group A1 of the Nations League after Holland earned a surprise 2-0 win over France.
Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay crowned a dominant display from the Dutch in Rotterdam to end Les Bleus' 15-game unbeaten run.
Friday's result leaves Joachim Low's winless German side rooted to the bottom of the table and heading to League B.

Player to watch…
Tanguy Ndombele: Tottenham and Manchester City have been linked to the 21-year-old who has been in impressive form for Lyon so far this season. The midfielder made his international debut only last month when he replaced Paul Pogba in France’s 2-2 draw with Iceland, and will look to catch the eye again of potential suitors after the midfielder told L’Equipe this week that he could leave the Ligue 1 side in the summer.

Odds…
Netherlands to win: 21/10
France to win: 5/4
Draw: 49/20
Prediction...
Netherlands 1-2 France
90 mins: NO.
A bad free-kick from Suarez sees Brazil attempt to counter, but they also fail.
Not long to go for Brazil to hold on to victory here.
90+2 mins: Corner Brazil.
I assume they won't be swinging this one in to the mixer.
FULL TIME: Brazil 1-0 Uruguay
Tonight's 'friendly' has certainly had a bit of bite to it but Neymar's penalty is what decides the game between the two South American sides in their first ever clash on European soil.
The Emirates was host to some attacking flair and quality but certainly a lot of foul play, niggling tackles and plenty of argy bargy.
English referee Craig Pawson will be somewhat relieved, probably expecting an easy ride given the 'friendly' nature of the game.
Uruguay head to Paris now to take on the World Champions France who were also defeated tonight.
Meanwhile, tonight's victors Brazil continue their world tour, moving on to Stadium MK next where they face Cameroon.
