From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

KICK-OFF: What do you call a Scotsman at Euro 2016? Apart from Aiden McGeady, that is. It's Willie Collum everyone! The SPFL referee blows the whistle in Marseille and Albania get this final match of day six up and underway. Another win for the host nation will see them safely into the last 16. For Albania, surely anything other than a comprehensive defeat would be a bonus.
Another day, another late France showing. The hosts may not have been at their best, but goals against brave Albania in the final seconds by Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet ensured that the hosts - and the favourites - are the first team through to the Last 16.
It seems second spot in Group A will be fought out between Switzerland and Romania after they drew 1-1 in Paris earlier in the day while, in Group B, Slovakia got their campaign up and running after defeating Russia in Lille.
That's all for Wednesday, but I'll be here tomorrow with coverage of three more crucial Euro 2016 games including the big one - Northern Ireland v Ukraine England v Wales. Thanks for reading and goodnight.
