From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Gareth Bale put Wales ahead with a deceptive free-kick that left Slovakia goalkeeper Matúš Kozáčik moving the wrong way, but the lead evaporated in the second half when Duda equalised.
However, that set the stage for Hal Robson-Kanu to come off the substitutes' bench and score the winner to spark wild celebrations among the Welsh fans.
Wales now face a grudge match against England on Thursday.

Both sides will know that a win would go a long way towards progression into the knock-out stage.
Group B's other game of the day features its two favourites, England and Russia.
75 min: Switzerland look like they're trying to take the urgency out of Albania's game as they work the ball forward down the left before checking back and recycling play across their back four. They're playing with patience and waiting for those right moments to penetrate. It's eventually worked towards Embola on the left-hand side of the box but his curled effort towards the top-right corner is too high and wide. Goal kick.
76 min: Chance for Albania! Sadiku is slotted in behind Rodrqiguez within the Swiss box. He's close to the goal line on the right and takes his shot on the turn as he fires his effort back across himself. It smashes into the side net as the fans cheer before realising what's happened. Albania are still in this it would seem.
79 min: Penalty appeal! Lichtsteiner appears to have blocked Sadiku within the Swiss box as he dashed to meet a through-ball played deep from the Albanian defence. It looked unlikely that he would have reached the pass but the predominantly Albanian crowd doesn't care in the slightest as it erupts into outrage. The ref waves on play and the game continues. Looking back at the replies it certainly seems like Lichtsteiner did indeed hold onto Sadiku making it undoubtedly a foul.
