Michael Carrick has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment at not being included in England's 23-man squad for the World Cup.

The Manchester United midfielder misses out on the squad currently destined for Brazil, but Roy Hodgson has found room for him among his seven stand-by players.

It would seem the England manager did not want to pick another veteran midfielder with Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in the side. Instead, more youthful options Adam Lallana, Ross Barkley, Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson can fill the centre of midfield.

32-year-old Carrick, who has 31 caps for the Three Lions tweeted the following...
