Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Son Heung-min scored his first goals of the season to fire Tottenham into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The South Korean forward marked his 150th appearance for Spurs with the opening two goals in a 3-1 victory at London rivals West Ham.

The Hammers came from 2-0 down to knock Tottenham out at the same stage last season but there was to be no repeat of those Wembley heroics in east London.

Lucas Perez did briefly halve the deficit but Fernando Llorente, handed a rare run-out with Harry Kane rested, wrapped up victory for Spurs.

What are the odds?

West Ham 9/5

Tottenham 7/5

Draw 5/2

Who's going to win?

A lot can happen in 8 years, read Luke Brown's story about Blackpool's last visit to the Emirates and the seeming decline that has happened to the club since.

Chelsea vs Derby

Frank Lampard and his Derby side came up against Jose Mourinho and Manchester United in the third round and brushed them aside with a spectacular performance.

Tonight Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge, can he inflict another upset but this time on his old club?

West Ham vs Tottenham

This is the second year running in which West Ham have faced Tottenham in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Last time they came from 2-0 behind to win 3-2 at Wembley. Have they got a repeat performance in store tonight?

Middlesbrough vs Crystal Palace

The facts make for interesting reading in this match up between North and South.

Middlesbrough have lost their last three matches against Crystal Palace, all of them in the league with the most recent coming in the 2016/17 Premier League season.

Palace also won the League Cup match up between the sides, in September 2011, winning 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

However they have reached the League Cup quarter-final just once in their last 15 attempts, doing so in 2011/12.

Roy Hodgson also has a poor record against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, he was never won there in three previous attempts, drawing once and losing twice.

Chelsea vs Derby

Who remembers this stunner from Derby's third round victory over Manchester United? Another one of these tonight could throw the cat amongst the pigeons...
