The tone for a one-sided semi-final first leg was set as Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring after just five minutes, with Jesus adding two and Oleksandr Zinchenko another before the break.
Jesus grabbed two more in a 13-minute second-half blitz that also saw Phil Foden and Kyle Walker hit the target before Riyad Mahrez completed the scoring late on.
It was City's biggest win since they thrashed Huddersfield 10-1 in 1987 and ensured the second leg will be a formality.

Burton's defenders are caught ball watching as Gundogan sends the ball through the defensive line and into the path of Jesus. His shot is stopped by Collins and he can't get the rebound away as the ball gets stuck under his feet. Foden however is on hand to clean up and he takes the ball off Jesus and taps it into the net.

Mahrez puts a ball into Sane, on the left, from the right side of Burton's half. Sane runs the ball into the box and squares it to Jesus who flicks it on towards goal leaving Collins with no chance to stop it. Man City could reach double figures here.

Burton look dead on their feet. Collins kicks the ball long and Man City claim it easily. They storm forward with Bernarndo Silva in possession on the left-hand side of the box. He passes it to Mahrez in the centre who misses the ball with his first shot but toe pokes it in with his second.

It's been a tough night for Burton but they got completely overrun by Manchester City. Tottenham have a one goal advantage over Chelsea in the other semi-final but this one has been put to bed and Man City have booked their place in the final of the Carabao Cup.
