From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pre-match quotes from United's players
Romelu Lukaku - on United's win: It was satisfying for me personally and for the team. We had a difficult game here in the league so we were well prepared. We did well today."
Romelu Lukaku - on passing the 20-goal mark for the season: "I have to keep going and at the end of the day I'm at Manchester United and the main goal is to win trophies."
Juan Mata - on the VAR's decision to disallow his goal in the first half: "The important thing is that it didn't really matter because we won anyway. I'm up for it (VAR) and I think it's good when there is a clear decision that changes a game like a goal, offside or a red card. Hopefully it will be quicker but I think it's good for football to be a bit more fair."

Post-match reaction from Jose Mourinho
On Romelu Lukaku's match-winning display: "Important goals, difficult match. The first goal gave us a little space for a hypothetical mistake. We knew that we wanted to win this match but a draw wouldn't be a drama and take the game back to Old Trafford. The second goal killed the game."
Jose Mourinho's men are into the last eight
On VAR's decision to disallow a Juan Mata goal before half-time: "I keep saying that the decision should be the referee's decision and not our decision. The referees want to perform well and I don't think they're happy to make mistakes.
"If they have the VAR to help them make the right decision, I think they'll be happy with that... but if the VAR changes their good decisions to bad decisions, I don't think they'll be too happy!"
