From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The first leg of this EFL Cup semi-final saw Bristol City give Manchester City one of the biggest frights of their relatively serene season.
Lee Johnson's team still lost 2-1, we shouldn't forget, but they showed enough to suggest there will be no easy ride for Manchester City into the final of the competition.
Pep Guardiola will continue with a slightly rotated team while Johnson will not be holding anything back at Ashton Gate. If the home side can resist conceding an early goal, it could just develop into a memorable night.

Waiting for the winner of this tie in next month's Wembley final will be either Arsenal or Chelsea.
That tie is finely poised at 0-0 after the stalemate at Stamford Bridge a couple of weeks ago and the Gunners might feel they have the slight upper hand going into the second leg as they are playing at home.
That game takes place tomorrow and yep, you guessed it, you can keep up to date with all the action from the Emirates right here with Indy Football. Similarly to tonight we'll be running a live blog with minute-by-minute updates throughout the encounter.
Pre-match quotes from Pep Guardiola
On how he expects Bristol City to approach tonight's game: "I think they are going to play like they are. They are going to play the best football they can play."
On how he will set his City side up bearing in mind they have a one-goal lead: "[We will] play the game. Always you have to see the score with 10 minutes left until the end of the game. Afterwards, if you think about what you have done, you forget what you have to do. You have to play football, play as well as possible, try to score goals and win the game."
Quotes from Sky Sports
The players are in the tunnel at Ashton Gate and kick-off is just minutes away!
5' - Manchester City have started this game so positively. They're dominating possession and look a constant threat going forward.
The hosts, on the other hand, are struggling to keep hold of the ball at all.

12' - Off the woodwork!
Sergio Aguero attempts to dink a cross towards the far post but his looped centre ends up hitting the crossbar and the hosts manage to clear the danger.
18' - Leroy Sane shapes to shoot in the box after receiving a pass from Kevin De Bruyne but the German slips at the vital moment and Bristol City scramble the ball clear.
