Alexis Sanchez scored on his return to the Emirates Stadium as Manchester United saw off Arsenal to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup and extend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's winning start.

The two most successful sides in the competition's history played out an entertaining Friday night game as United secured a 3-1 win an an eighth straight victory for interim manger Solskjaer.

Sanchez and Jesse Lingard had set the visitors on course for victory before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled a goal back for the Gunners, only for substitute Anthony Martial to wrap up a comfortable win with a late strike.

90+3 minutes: Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

Luke Shaw gets in down the left hand side for United and fires a ball in towards Rashford. There is too much on his cross though and he can't get on the end of it.

90+8 minutes: Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

Arsenal nearly get themselves a late consolation. Guendouzi plays in a cross towards the backpost. Lacazette tries to get on the end of it and pushes Luke Shaw into the post in the process.

Replays show Lacazette handled the ball when it came his way, so it probably wouldn't have counted.

Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

It's eight wins from eight under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Manchester United.

First half goals from Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard put the away side on their way to victory, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal a glimpse of hope before half-time.

The Gunners pressed for an equaliser early in the second half but United were always a threat on the counter, even more so after the introduction of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

It was Martial who added the third and United progress into the next round of the FA Cup.
