From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Arsenal host Chelsea in the second-leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, with both sides hoping to book their spot in February’s Wembley final against Premier League leaders Manchester City.

New signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not make his Arsenal debut as the Armenian forward is cup-tied having played in the competition for previous club Manchester United. But in better news for the Gunners, Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal could feature after bouncing back from sickness and a leg injury respectively.

Chelsea will be without a number of first-team regulars: Cesc Fabregas (hamstring), Alvaro Morata (back) and Andreas Christensen (head) are all set to miss out.

The tie is finely poised after the sides drew 0-0 in a scrappy goalless draw at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago. You can follow all of tonight’s live action below.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea (Rudiger, OG)

12' - Arsenal equalise in extremely fortunate fashion as Nacho Monreal's header from a corner ricochets off both Marcos Alonso and Antonio Rudiger and into the back of the net!

17' - Eden Hazard collects a booking for a trip on Mesut Ozil as the German was attempting to spark an Arsenal counter-attack.

20' - Eden Hazard produces a lovely dummy to allow a Pedro pass to roll on through to Willian, who drags a left-footed shot wide of David Ospina's far post with his left foot.

24' - Chelsea have been the stronger of the two sides in the opening quarter of this match and Eden Hazard in particular looks to be in a menacing mood.

Arsenal look a threat on the counter-attack but the visitors look the more likely team to score the game's next goal.

29' - Ross Barkley comes off the bench for his Chelsea debut as Willian is forced off with a hamstring injury.

33' - Granit Xhaka goes for goal with a free-kick from a really tight angle... and his optimism almost pays off as the ball deflects off Eden Hazard in the wall and loops narrowly over Willy Caballero's crossbar.

37' - Eden Hazard wriggles past Laurent Koscielny down the left wing before drilling a low ball across the six-yard box and in towards Pedro. Shkodran Mustafi shows good awareness though and blocks the ball behind for a corner, which comes to nothing for the visitors.
