Everton vs Brentford
Everton secured Premier League safety with a cagey win over Brentford, with Gueye scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Goodison Park. The first half lacked quality in the attack, with Everton failing to hit the target with any of their 12 efforts, amassing an xG of 0.63. McNeil's cross-shot went just wide of the right post, with Doucoure lashing a volley wide off target after a clever flick from Chermiti. Toney was then denied at close range by Pickford, and McNeil rattled the bar from distance before Gueye gave the hosts the lead. Harrison's cutback rebounded to the midfielder, who crashed his first-time effort into the top corner. McNeil then went close to doubling Everton's lead, but he drilled his low strike from the left across the goal and wide of the right post. The Toffees have won their last four games at Goodison Park, keeping four clean sheets in that time. They travel to Luton for their next match, with the Hatters one point from safety. As for Brentford, they drop to 15th position and their five-match unbeaten run ends. The Bees go to Fulham for their upcoming game. That's all for today, goodbye.
