Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Follow live coverage of the very latest from the second leg of Borussia Dortmund’s round of 16 tie with Tottenham Hotspur this evening.

Tottenham’s hopes of lifting the Premier League title have well and truly faded following recent results, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still very much alive in the Champions League. They beat Borussia Dortmund home and away in last season’s group stage, and Spurs take a healthy lead to the Westfalenstadion after they ran out 3-0 winners at Wembley three weeks ago.

Second-half goals from Son Heung-Min, Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente have left the Bundesliga table toppers with a mountain to climb. Follow live coverage of the second leg from Dortmund below.

78 mins: Dortmund 0 - 1 Tottenham

Vertonghen puts the ball out for a corner, Aurier heads it clear whenthe ball comes in and Dortmund look all out of ideas. It hasn't been pretty from Spurs but their defence has been rock solid over the two legs.

87 mins: Dortmund 0 - 1 Tottenham

Alcacer gets in and shoots but Lloris saves it again.

There's nothing left but the chants from the crowd. Dortmund are spent, there's no pace or energy and they're waiting for the final whistle.

They can't break through this defence.

90 mins: Dortmund 0 - 1 Tottenham (0-4 agg)

Two perfect legs for Tottenham and they breeze into the quarter-finals of the Champions League. To keep a clean sheet away to Borussia Dortmund is no easy task and they purt everything behind the ball and were rewarded.

Real Madrid 1 - 4 Ajax (3-5 agg)

A stellar 90 minutes for Ajax puts them into the quarter-finals for the first time in 16 years. They were superb tonight and have decimated Real Madrid at home. The Champions League holders were shocked, embarrassed and very poor tonight as Ajax leave with the spoils.
