Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs were rocked by stunning goals from Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic and two from the irrepressible Messi.
Harry Kane, and then Erik Lamela, briefly gave the hosts a chance of taking something from the match by cutting the deficit to one goal.

Napoli nick the match in the last minute, Liverpool have played poorly and have been punished harshly. They looked as though they had settled for a point and Insigne put the ball in the back of the net to make it a terrible night in Italy for the Reds

Tottenham are struggling in Group B now. Both Barcelona and Inter Milan have moved onto 6 points apiece with Spurs on 0. Their next match against PSV Eindhoven is now a crucial one, anything less than three points could effectively put their Champions League campaign to an early end.
As for Liverpool they drop down into second in Group C as Napoli move into first place. They didn't play well tonight and they got what they deserved. A relatively easy match against Red Star Belgrade awaits them next and they'll be looking to put this defeat behind them and get back to winning ways.
