Leaders Juventus extended their Serie A unbeaten run to 16 games as Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty secured a hard-earned 1-0 win at rivals Torino.

The Bianconeri showed no hangover from their surprise midweek Champions League loss away to Swiss club Young Boys, rallying to extend their lead over Napoli, who play on Sunday, to 11 points.

Ronaldo made the breakthrough from the spot during the second half after Torino substitute goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo had tripped Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian striker saw a goal disallowed for offside after a Video Assistant Review, but Massimiliano Allegri's men went on to close out a hard-earned three points.

Welcome!

Good evening and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of Torino vs Juventus in the Turin derby! Enough chatter...here's the team news:

It's a first Derby della Mole for Cristiano Ronaldo. His Juventus side are still unbeaten and racing clear at the top of Serie A. A win today would be a big statement.

Torino, though, will have hopes of pulling off an upset. They're in good form, unbeaten in four games, and sit in sixth. Expect a full-blooded encounter, and a raucous atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Torino have started on the front foot, although Juventus look content to sit back and soak up the inevitable early pressure. Neither side has created a chance as yet.

Ronaldo is getting a particularly frosty reception from the home fans when he touches the ball. That probably won't faze him.

Ronaldo cuts inside and draws a foul on the edge of the box from Izzo. No prizes for guessing who's standing over the set piece.

Pjanic lays it off for Ronaldo, who gets his shot horribly wrong. It goes out for a throw in on the other side of the pitch.

First big chance for Ronaldo. Matuidi flicks the ball over the Torino defence and the Portuguese strikes his volley well. It's an excellent save by Sirigu, who goes down again, struggling with a back injury.
