Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Roma appear vulnerable as they enter the last 16 of the Champions League nearly a year on from their incredible run to the semi-finals, where Liverpool finally eliminated them.

Porto await, quietly confident of landing themselves a quarter-final spot with one of the easiest routes in living memory, having gone unbeaten in a group including Schalke, Lokomotiv Moscow and Galatasaray.

The Giallorossi have one of the youngest, most talented sides around, including midfield revelation Nicolo Zaniolo, can they hold their composure at home to take a lead back to the Dragao? Follow it live:

2: Manchester United not holding back

Where if you were wondering how Manchester United would appraoch this game then the first 90 seconds tell you that they are going full-throttle. Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford waste no time in pressing the defence high up the pitch and win back possession after forcing PSG into an error. On the pitch it is nothing much, but it has the home fans going.

3: Boos for Di Maria

Angel Di Maria gets his first touch on the ball and is met by a chorus of boos and then jeers as Victor Lindelof dispossesses him.

4:Nemanja Matic does really well to win back possession and United work the ball to Marcus Rashford on the right. PSG are stretched at the back and Rashford can't take advantage and fails to find Jesse LIngard with a pass.

5: Angel Di Maria tests David De Gea from range, but the Manchester United goalkeeper was equal to it. PSG worked the ball from right-to-left without much pressure from a player in red, Di Maria collects it on the left side, sets himself to shoot, and unleashes a lofty effort that is patted away by the United goalkeeper.

7: Buffon makes his first save

Marcus Rashford sets himself on the right and tries to catch Buffon off-guard with an effort at the near post but the experienced goalkeeper has seen it all before and beats it behind for a corner.

The resulting set piece comes to nothing as a foul on Marquinhos is give to the visiting side.

11: Marcus Rashford collects the ball in a central area and touches the ball beyond Presnel Kimpembe, who brings him down inside the centre circle and collects the first yellow card of the night.

Roma 0-0 Porto

It's been an even start in Rome, the biggest bit of action so far has been Brahimi almost putting the ball beyond his own goalkeeper having missed the call from Casillas.

16: Paul Pogba introduces himself to the game. With one heavy touch, Pogba glides past Presnel Kimpembe and fires a low cross towards the middle but Buffon is on hand to sweep up.

There was a brief moment of concern as Thiago Silva went down in a bit of heap as he tried to defend that cross, but he looks like he will be able to carry on.
