From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Serie A leaders Juventus welcome Roma to Turin as the first of three games for Massimiliano Allegri's side in the next seven days before the winter break.

Juventus find themselves 22 points above Roma in the table, and their home draw to Genoa remains the only blemish on their otherwise perfect league record this season.

Eusebio Di Francesco's team meanwhile have lost all of their previous seven visits to the stadium and have won just twice in their last eight league games, the latest of which came against Genoa last weekend.

Player to watch…

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Portuguese decided the Turin derby in favour of his side with a well-taken penalty against Torino last weekend. It was his 12th goal in all competitions since joining the club from Real Madrid in the summer, and ensured that Juventus ground out a victory despite a lacklustre performance to extend their lead over second-placed Napoli to 11 points.

GOAL! Juventus 1-0 Roma (Mandzukic 35')

Davide Santon has managed to keep Ronaldo relatively quiet tonight, but he cannot prevent Mandzukic from giving the hosts the lead.

The Croatian looked second favourite for the cross from Matteo Di Sciglio, but he rises above Santon to head past Olsen at the near post for his eighth league goal of the season.

Watch how Mario Mandzukic gave Juventus the lead.

40 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

The first yellow card of the game goes to Steven Nzonzi after a badly-timed challenge on Mandzukic.

42 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

Ronaldo is starting to get more joy down the Roma right and holds off a number of weak visitor challenges before firing wide of Olsen's far post.

44 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

That's better from Roma. Patrick Schick dispossess Giorgio Chiellini before a cross finds Steven Nzonzi who heads at goal.

Szczesny saves easily however.

Half Time: Juventus 1-0 Roma

The hosts are on course for yet another win in the league this season.

Mario Mandzukic's header ten minutes before the break broke the deadlock, while Alex Sandro and Cristiano Ronaldo have also had opportunities, but the brilliance of Robin Olsen kept them at bay.

Roma have possessed some sort of attacking threat, but it will need to be ramped up if they are to claim something here

How many more to come I wonder?

Kishan Vaghela22 December 2018 20:22

Roma have lost all seven of their matches at the Allianz Stadium and things aren't going much better here either.

Eusebio Di Francesco has 45 minutes to try and find a solution, and his best way looks to be through the likes of Cengiz Under and Patrik Schick.

Will Roma's miserable run at the home of Juventus continue? Second half kick-off moments away.

Kishan Vaghela22 December 2018 20:27

46 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

Roma walk back out to the pitch with 'Highway to Hell' being blared around the stadium, and both players and manager know the magnitude of the task ahead of them.

There's also a change for the visitors, with Florenzi being replaced by Patrick Kluivert.

We're back underway as well.

Kishan Vaghela22 December 2018 20:35

50 min: Juventus 1-0 Roma

Roma have begun the second half strongly with Kluivert providing much more of a test for De Sciglio already, while the fullbacks have also clearly been instructed to advance up the field.
