From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Match facts

Borussia Dortmund have lost just one of their last eight matches at home to English sides in European competition, but this defeat was against Spurs' North London rival Arsenal (W5 D2).

The Lilywhites have won twice away in Germany in their European history - beating Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in 2006 and FC Koln in 1974, both coming in the UEFA Cup.

Dortmund have made the last 16 of each of their last four European campaigns, the other three being in the Champions League. They were however eliminated at the last 16 stage last season to Juventus in that competition.

Spurs have reached the last 16 of the Europa League for the first time since 2013/14, having been eliminated at the last 32 stage by Fiorentina last season.

The last time Borussia Dortmund faced an English side in the knockout phases of a European competition, they went onto to win the tournament (v Manchester United in the Champions League semi-final in 1996/97).

Only Aritz Aduriz (7) has scored more Europa League goals this season than Erik Lamela (6).

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has created more chances in the Europa League than any other Dortmund player this season (20).

Could Son be a lucky charm for Spurs? He's got a handy record against the Bundesliga side.

Heung-Min Son netted five times in his last five matches against Dortmund.

Mason and Carroll will have work to do against the Dortmund attackers. As Phil Neal said: "This is a test, boss." https://t.co/HRjSiRF15p

These are the three amigos Spurs need to stop tonight. Between them they've score more than 100 goals this season. Not too shabby.

If you haven't heard about Aubameyang's pace, where have you been? Mkhitaryan's creativity shouldn't be overlooked either. As for Reus, he's been admired by Premier League fans for many a year. The German's technique is superb.

But is he better than Tottenham's very own set-piece technician?

Who would you rather have in your team?

#thfc Poch will continue to insist the PL & EL are joint priorities but that evidently isn't the case. 7 changes tonight from Arsenal.

#thfc And this is the hardest possible EL game followed by the easiest possible PL game. He's going for the league...& who can blame him?

What should be Tottenham's priority?

With so many top players on show tonight, we've had a little crack of making a combined Dortmund-Tottenham XI.It's even set up in a rather hipster formation. That's fitting for tonight's teams given how few neutrals can resist Spurs at the moment while Dortmund seem to have been most people's second team since they went so close in the Champions League.
