From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Ernesto Valverde’s side have drawn three and lost one of their last four La Liga fixtures, but the Catalans will hope to come back from the international break refreshed to claim their first league win since their 2-1 triumph at Real Sociedad.
Sevilla, meanwhile, are on a four-game winning run in the league, following victories against Levante, Real Madrid, Eibar and Celta Vigo.

It’s a big game for…
Luis Suarez. While Barcelona loanee Paco Alcacer cannot stop scoring for Borussia Dortmund and Spain, the Uruguayan has appeared rather sluggish lately, demonstrated by his lethargic work on the ball in the 1-1 draw against Valencia at the Mestalla. The 31-year-old began last season in a similar fashion, however the Catalan giants will be hoping that he recovers in a similar vein to how he did last campaign to fire them to further success.
Player to watch…
Wissam Ben Yedder. The French striker has already netted five times this term, complimenting the goals from Andre Silva admirably. The 28-year-old scored the winner against Celta Vigo during the last weekend of fixtures, and given Barcelona’s problems at the back this season Ben Yedder could be an excellent option for Pablo Machin.
Past three meetings…

Odds…
Barcelona to win: 1/3
Sevilla to win: 23/4
Draw: 19/4
83 min: Barcelona 3-1 Sevilla
Barcelona look to respond from a Coutinho free-kick, and the Brazilian nearly pulls it off, but Vaclik manages to deal with the dipping effort, however unorthodox his technique was.
86 min: Barcelona 3-1 Sevilla
Another incredible double save from ter Stegen! A mistake from Barcelona lets Sarabia in, and after the German blocks his shot he rises again to keep out Ben Yedder.
GOAL! Barcelona 4-1 Sevilla (Rakitic 88')
The Croatian doesn't score bad goals, does he? Dembele's attempted one-two with Coutinho is blocked by the Sevilla defence, but the ball falls to Rakitic on the volley on the right-hand side, and he finds the corner with yet another sweet strike.
GOAL! Barcelona 4-2 Sevilla (Muriel 90+1)
It's only a consolation, but that rather takes away from the finish of the Colombian. Sevilla break and the ball is fed to Muriel who curls past ter Stegen.
Full Time: Barcelona 4-2 Sevilla
So Barcelona return to the summit of the La Liga table after a six-goal thriller at the Camp Nou. Goals from Philippe Coutinho, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic provided Ernesto Valverde with his first win since 15 September.
Sevilla grabbed two goals and could have had many more had it not been for the terrific ter Stegen, and after Atletico's draw at Villarreal, they slip down into fourth.
So that's another night of high-class European football completed.
The whole of Barcelona will take tonight as a bittersweet moment, as their return to the top of the table, one point above Alaves, has somewhat been dampened by Lionel Messi's injury.
Will the Argentine make the Clasico? Or could we be facing the first Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash without both Ronaldo and Messi for years?
