From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester City faced the daunting task of taking on Barcelona as manager Pep Guardiola returned to the club where he made his name, both as a player and manager. With City trailing Barcelona by two points, they could ill-afford to suffer defeat at the Nou Camp if they are to retain any hope of finishing top of Group C. But it was a night to forget as the home side fired four past Guardiola's men. Relive the latest here.

  • Barcelona vs Manchester City kicks off at 19:45 BST
  • City expected to field strong line-up unchanged from Saturday
  • City beat Borussia Monchengladbach before drawing with Celtic in 3-3 thriller

A reminder of the two teams...

14 min: Messi gets hold of the ball on the right and suddenly the stadium erupts into a chorus of noise as Barcelona's fans urge their star play forward. He drifts inwards, picks out Neymar ahead of him in search of a one-two but Stones gets an important foot in and Messi's charge forward is halted in its tracks.

GOAL! Messi puts the home side ahead!

26 min: Nolito bursts down the left flank but he's met by a wall of Blue and Red and is forced to turn back. After starting so brightly, City are finding it increasingly difficult to penetrate their opponents now.

30 min: Another chance! A searching ball is pinged long over the top and in behind the City backline to set Neymar up for a one-on-one with Bravo. But the City keeper was quick from his line and rushed to meet the Brazilian on the edge of the box, spreading his legs and hands to block the shot. Well read from Bravo.

45 min: Interestingly, still no Sergio Aguero. How long until Pep throws on the Argentine?
