Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

La Liga leaders Barcelona face mid-table Eibar at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

Ernesto Valverde’s men actually come off the back of a loss to Levante in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, but have won their last five league games.

Eibar have drawn their last five matches in all competitions, including a 0-0 at home to Villarreal last week; they are in 13th place on 22 points.

What time does it start?

Barcelona vs Eibar kicks off at 5:30pm (GMT) on Sunday 13 January.

Where can I watch it?

Barcelona vs Eibar will be shown live on Eleven Sports 1 from 5:25pm (GMT).

Highlights will be on the Eleven Sports website after the game.

Player to watch…

Luis Suarez: The Uruguayan scored a fantastic volley last week at Getafe, and has 17 goals to his name this season in all competitions. Despite this, the 31-year-old hasn’t scored at the Camp Nou since a hat-trick against Real Madrid in October.

Good chance this for Madrid.

GOAL! Real Betis 1-2 Real Madrid (Ceballos 88')

Dani Ceballos looks to have won it here for Madrid!

His free-kick is relatively simple: not particularly powerful, to the keeper's side, but Pau Lopez takes a critical step to the right, and he's wrong-footed as the ball sneaks into the corner.

The partisan home crowd are stunned!

Four minutes of added time for Real Madrid to hold on for three precious points.

Appeals for handball from the corner but nothing given.

FULL-TIME: Real Betis 1-2 Real Madrid

Madrid have won it at the death!

Luka Modric opened the scoring, but ex-Madrid man Sergio Canales equalised after a VAR correction in the second-half.

But Dani Ceballos' late free-kick secures three points for the visitors, as they move up to fourth - above Alaves - on 33 points.

Missed opportunity for Betis that's for sure.

Real Betis stay in seventh, on 26 points.

That's it from us, on an afternoon where Barcelona maintained their five-point gap to Atletico Madrid at the top of the La Liga table with a 3-0 win against Eibar, while Real Madrid left it late to beat Real Betis 2-1 in Seville.
