Arsenal qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League with a goalless draw at home to 10-man Sporting in a game overshadowed by a potentially serious ankle injury to England forward Danny Welbeck.

A victory for Qarabag against Vorskla Poltava meant this 0-0 draw was enough to secure the Gunners’ progress from Group E as Sporting had Jeremy Mathieu sent off late on for scything down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as he burst through on goal.

But it was Welbeck’s injury just before the half hour mark that was the main talking point from a largely forgettable Emirates Stadium encounter.

The away fans haven't taking a liking to Stefan Lichtsteiner. The right-back was booked for a nasty tackle on Nani in the first half and now the Sporting players are furious as the Arsenal man goes down VERY easily to win his side a free-kick.

Acuna is booked for Sporting. He's furious with the referee for awarding a corner to Arsenal, but he's gone a bit too far with his protests.

Acuna, who's just been booked, hacks down Smith Rowe, who needs Stefan Lichtsteiner to do up his boot laces. He is only 18 after all...

Another injury for Arsenal. Lichtsteiner seems to have pulled up.

The Swiss international was lining up to swing in a cross but has had to limp away. Looks like a hamstring issue.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles will replace Lichtsteiner.

Still no breakthrough for Arsenal, then. Unai Emery has made all three substitutions now, two of which were forced because of injures. Can they find a winner?
