Palace faded towards the end of that first half and Everton must now press on and try to find that crucial opening goal. Hodgson will no doubt be seeking a greater deal of control from his Palace side in the second period as they look for their fourth win on the bounce.

It remains goalless as we reach the break at Selhurst Park. There were chances at both ends but nothing particularly clear cut. Ayew squandered Palace's best chance as he headed over from a fine Olise cross while Johnstone had to be alert to keep out Iwobi's fine strike from outside the box. Hodgson's side started the fastest but Everton grew into the game as the half went on with Calvert-Lewin looking sharp on his return to first-team action. A big second half awaits as Everton look to get a crucial away win.
