Arsenal 'deserved' to beat Everton - Arteta

Arsenal cruised to victory against Crystal Palace with a 5-1 win at Selhurst Park to keep their chances of winning the Premier League title well and truly alive.

Following their 3-2 loss to the Gunners in the Carabao Cup during the week, Palace started the match in an aggressive and well controlled way but they were undone once again by Gabriel Jesus.

The Arsenal man scored a hat-trick against the Eagles in the league cup and added two more on Saturday evening, either side of Ismaila Sarr’s consolation goal, to give Arsenal complete control of the game.

He could have had a third after heading an effort onto the post but the goal came when Kai Havertz turned in the rebound. Two more were added, by Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice in the second half, to secure a fine victory for the Gunners who put a touch of pressure on their rivals who play tomorrow.

GOAL! Crystal Palace 1-5 Arsenal (Declan Rice, 84’)

The game has certainly gone now!

Declan Rice gets himself on the scoresheet with a belter of a finish. Calafiori receives the ball on the left wing and slots it inside to Rice. Herolls the ball into his right foot and curls a shot into the far, bottom corner!

He should be okay to play on.

Crystal Palace 1-4 Arsenal

69 mins: As things stand Arsenal will be cutting the gap to Liverpool to just three points and they’ll feel as though they are right back in the title race along with Chelsea and the Reds themselves.

The Gunners will continue to put pressure on the leaders with each win they have.

Palace aren’t content to let them coast through this match though.

Crystal Palace 1-4 Arsenal

66 mins: Martinelli has taken up Bukayo Saka’s usual spot on the right wing and it’s paying off handsomely for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta will feel relieved that there’s a built in replacement for Saka if his hamstring injury proves to be worse than suspected.
