Kick-off between Clermont and Marseille was scheduled for 8pm GMT but was delayed due to tear gas being deployed by police.
Fights are reported to have broken out between rival fans outside the ground, with police forced to deploy tear gas to break it up. The tear gas then blew on to the pitch, so players were taken to the dressing room.
However, once it began to clear, players were given 10 minutes to warm up by the referee before the game was expected to get underway.
