Lyon vs Chelsea LIVE: Women’s Champions League result and final score after Guro Reiten goal
Lyon 0-1 Chelsea: Reiten’s wonderful finish means it’s advantage Chelsea ahead of next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea will take a one-goal lead back to Stamford Bridge after Guro Reiten’s sublime finish secured an impressive win over holders Lyon in the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.
The eight-time winners Lyon had the better of the early chances but Reiten curled a wonderful shot past Christiane Endler after an excellent pass from Erin Cuthbert. Lauren James came close to doubling Chelsea’s lead with a shot that hit the inside of the post, while Sam Kerr also had an opportunity late on.
Chelsea lost defender Millie Bright to injury near the end of the first half and Lyon came close to equalising after the break when Magdalena Eriksson lost possession inside her own box, but Ann-Katrin Berger was able to tip Delphine Cascarino’s shot onto the post.
Chelsea will host Lyon at Stamford Bridge next Thursday, where Emma Hayes’ side will look to advance to the semi-finals. Follow all the updates from Lyon vs Chelsea in the Women’s Champions League, which can be watched for free on YouTube:

There may have been a touch from Eve Perisset as she lunges towards the ball. Yes, the referee awards Lyon a corner meaning that’s great defending from the Chelsea right-back.

Kerr will be disappointed with that one.
Lyon 0-1 Chelsea

Lyon 0-1 Chelsea
66 mins: Sophie Ingle finds Lauren James in midfield and James dinks the ball into the right side of the box as Sam Kerr makes a nice run in behind the defence.
Christine Endler spots the run early and storms off her line to beat the striker to the ball and manages to smother it before Kerr has the chance to shoot.
Lyon 0-1 Chelsea
63 mins: Lyon have been buoyed by that chance from Cascarino. There’s now a nervous energy to Chelsea’s play as though they’re running out of options in possession.
A long ball comes over the top to Sam Kerr who brings it down and rolls a pass over to Guro Reiten. Reiten shoots but pulls her effort wide of the nearest post.
Lyon 0-1 Chelsea
60 mins: Off the post! Magdalena Eriksson makes a massive mistake after taking too long on the ball inside her own box. She ends up passing it over to Vicki Becho who slips in Delphine Cascarino.
Cascarino curls a shot at goal but rattles the left-hand post and Chelsea are reprieved!
Lyon 0-1 Chelsea
59 mins: A couple more changes for Lyon now as they try to force an equaliser. Dzsenifer Marozsan and Perle Morroni are taken off and replaced with Danielle van de Donk and Selma Bacha.
Lyon 0-1 Chelsea
56 mins: Chance! Erin Cuthbert picks the pocket of Dzsenifer Marozsan and darts into the right side of Lyon’s penalty area. She lets fly with a right-footed shot and draws a dropping stop out of the goalkeeper.
Chelsea are creating the better chances. They haven’t had as many as Lyon but look more likely to score.
