Tuchel on Chelsea difficult Juventus challenge

Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner struck to sink Juventus 4-0 and march an imperious Chelsea into the Champions League’s last 16.

The defending champions battered the outclassed Italians, Chelsea booking their place in the knockout stages but also overhauling their Serie A rivals at the top of Group H.

Match or better Juve’s result in the final set of round-robin fixtures in early December and the Blues will top the group.

Chelsea’s sole concerns on a raucous west London night proved injury scares for N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell, who both hobbled out of action well ahead of time.

England wing-back James became Chelsea’s outright top scorer for the season so far. The unassuming 21-year-old now boasts five goals and five assists for the term and continued his revelatory form with a sublime finish against The Old Lady. Relive all the action below:

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

90 mins: Five minutes of added time to close out this game. Five minutes too many for Juventus who’ve been played off the park by Chelsea tonight.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

87 mins: Save! It should four! Werner gets the ball and brings it to the front edge of the box before sending a beautifully weighted pass into the box for Ziyech. He runs onto the pass and hits a first time left-footed effort but can’t beat Szczesny who drops to his right and keeps the ball out with a strong right hand!

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

84 mins: Juventus win a corner and Chelsea don’t deal with it properly. The goalkeeper comes out to claim the ball but it gets headed out of the box but Chalobah, I think. The ball bounces nicely for McKennie who rattles it back at goal and draws Mendy into a sharp save as he pushes the ball over the crossbar!

81 mins: Arthur is dispossessed deep in his own half and Timo Werner takes the ball into the box before having a his shot blocked and cleared. He’d love to get on the scoresheet tonight.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

79 mins: Saul Niguez comes on to replace Jorginho and Mason Mount takes the place of Callum Hudson-Odoi for Chelsea. Not bad substitutes to come on when you’re three goals up.

Kean attempts to take on Thiago Silva but the Chelsea man squeezes in front of the attacker and draws him into a foul. Smart defending.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

76 mins: Chelsea win a free just inside Juve’s final third. Ziyech and James discuss how to play it before Ziyech swings a left-footed ball into the middle of the box. The visitors clear it without too much trouble though.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

70 mins: Chilwell limps off the pitch with the help of the physios. It looks like his right knee is the problem. Marcos Alonso is hurriedly getting stripped to come on.

Arthur is also on for Juve with Locatelli the man replaced.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

67 mins: Ziyech is fine to continue but Ben Chilwell has gone down in the middle of the pitch. He seems more hurt with a possible knee injury and Christian Pulisic calls for the medics again. The game is paused why Chilwell gets treatment.

Moise Kean is on for Juventus replacing Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Juventus

64 mins: Hakim Ziyech flies towards the edge of the box but gets crowded out by Rabiot and De Ligt. He wants a penalty as he hits the deck but the referee plays on. Ziyech stays down and the physios are called on to take a look at him.
