Chelsea v Nottingham Forest LIVE: Result and final score after Blues frustrated by 10-man visitors
James Ward-Prowse was sent off in the second half but Chelsea could not capitalise as Forest held on for a point

Chelsea’s winning run in the Premier League was brought to an end by 10-man Nottingham Forest who battled to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge to maintain their own strong start to the season.
Enzo Maresca’s side were chasing a fourth victory in a row to shore up their place in the top four but needed a brilliant solo equaliser from Noni Madueke to cancel out Chris Wood’s goal early in the second half.
Thereafter Chelsea bombarded the visitors and looked likely to go on and win when James Ward-Prowse was dismissed for handling the ball as Nicolas Jackson threatened to race through on goal.
But Forest, who also lost England forward Morgan Gibbs-White to injury, survived a frantic 13 minutes of stoppage time, during which goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Matz Sels produced remarkable saves, to leave with a point.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
86 min: A brilliant piece of skill by Palmer, who totally skins Murillo and runs around the other side of the defender before getting away a shot, but it’s well saved by Sels, as is the rebound. Was that the moment?
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
83 min: Elanga blocks a cross to concede a corner. Palmer’s corner falls to Caicedo but the whistle has gone, with keeper Matz Sels down in the box. Chelsea are attacking in waves but Forest are running down the clock.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
80 min: Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku replace Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson.
RED CARD! Nottingham Forest (Ward-Prowse, 77)
Oh dear! A nightmare for James Ward-Prowse, who loses the ball to Nicolas Jackson in a dangerous area and decides the only course of action is to grab it with his hands. He’s shown a second yellow card, and he’s off.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
73 min: Not one of James Ward-Prowse’s best free-kicks, and it floats into the clutches of Sanchez.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
71 min: Gibbs-White, thankfully, is now standing. He hobbles off the pitch and hopefully that isn’t too bad of an injury. Argentina’s Nicolas Dominguez replaces him.
Meanwhile, after all of that, Forest have a free-kick in a position that can certainly be categorised as Ward-Prowse territory.
There have been some arguments off the ball and Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is booked, as is Cole Palmer, I think the latter because of his complaints over where the free-kick is being taken.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
69 min: This looks nasty. Forest’s counterattack is worked to Morgan Gibbs-White, who shuffles into space before firing a left-footed shot which is brilliantly blocked by Malo Gusto. But Gibbs-White seems to have twisted something – ankle or knee, perhaps – after his boot sticks in the turf.
Players of both sides urge on the Forest doctors to give him some treatment.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
67 min: Gusto plays in Palmer who feeds Madueke once more, and he’s shut down by Moreno – another Chelsea corner. It’s wasted though, and Forest break.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
64 min: Poor corner by Enzo Fernandez, failing to clear the first man.
Jota Silva replaces Elliot Anderson.
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
61 min: Chelsea are playing well now, and look confident about finding this second goal. Jackson lays the ball on to Sancho and for some reason the winger doesn’t shoot when he could have pulled the trigger.
Forest are going to make a change.
