Chelsea will play holders Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, with the winners facing either Manchester City or Bayern Munich following a top-heavy draw that produced two blockbuster ties.

On the other side of the draw Napoli will face AC Milan in an all-Italian clash, while Inter Milan will play Benfica. It means one of those sides will reach the Champions League final.

Real Madrid defeated Chelsea in last season’s quarter-finals on their way to lifting the Champions League for the 14th time and Friday’s draw produced a repeat of that tie. Manchester City’s quest to win their first Champions League title will also have to be done the hard way, with Pep Guardiola’s side facing German champions Bayern Munich before a potential rematch with Madrid in the semi-finals.

Marcus Rashford scores as Man United beat Real Betis to continue treble trophy hunt

Marcus Rashford fired Manchester United to victory at Real Betis with a rocket of a strike as Erik ten Hag’s side cruised through to the Europa League quarter-finals.

The Red Devils headed to Spain all but assured of progress from this last-16 tie having won the first leg 4-1 in freezing conditions at Old Trafford last Thursday.

Betis made United sweat during the opening stages in the return fixture but Rashford’s outstanding strike silenced the bouncing Estadio Benito Villamarin and secured a 1-0 win on the night.

The impressive 5-1 aggregate triumph puts them through to the quarter-finals, with Friday’s draw to outline their potential path to the Europa League final in Budapest.

City have added Erling Haaland to the side that were knocked out by Real Madrid in last season’s semi-finals but Carlo Ancelotti’s team remain the team to beat following their thrashing of Liverpool in the round of 16. Serie A leaders Napoli look to be favourites to reach the Istanbul final on the other side of the draw, in what would be a first Champions League final for the Italian club.

‘We want to win everything’ says Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri

Facundo Pellistri is hungry for silverware and more opportunities after finally making his first start for Manchester United.

The Red Devils forked out 10 million euros (£9million) to sign the winger from Penarol in 2020, three years after the Uruguayan talent was first spotted by the club’s Argentinian academy scout.

Real Madrid, Juventus and Atletico Madrid had been linked with Pellistri before his switch to Old Trafford, where the 21-year-old has had to wait patiently for a first-team chance.

The winger had two loan spells at Alaves before making his competitive debut for United in January, taking a further step on Thursday when starting the 1-0 Europa League win at Real Betis.

Europa League quarter-final draw

Still to come, Manchester United will discover who they are taking on in the last-eight of the Europa League. Erik ten Hag’s men already have one trophy in the bag this season and are eyeing up victory in Europe’s second competition as well.

Their are some impressive teams left in the tournament though. Juventus and Roma are seasoned European campaigners and Sevilla are the Europa League specialists.

After the bad luck Manchester City and Chelsea just got in the Champions League draw surely a favourable fixture will be forthcoming for Man Utd.

Champions League quarter-final draw

Who has the more difficult quarter-final Chelsea or Manchester City?

I think more people would say Chelsea but Liverpool proved that Real Madrid are vulnerable at times by scoring twice in 14 minutes at Anfield - though everything fell apart afterwards.

Bayern Munich have been mightily impressive throughout the competition and will be the strongest opponents Man City have faced at this stage for a while.

Champions League quarter-final draw

In all honesty that draw could not have gone any worse for the English teams.

Chelsea must face the Champions League holders Real Madrid, who just knocked Liverpool out. If Graham Potter’s men managed to get through that difficult fixture then they’ll face Bayern Munich - who have won every game so far - or fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

That means only one English team can possibly reach the final.
