Burnley vs AFC Bournemouth
All over here at Turf Moor, and another tough day for Burnley on home soil with a 0-2 defeat. The Clarets started the game promisingly with quick, decisive passing and majority of possession, but they lacked that cutting edge which Bournemouth showed when it mattered. Kluivert took advantage of some sloppy Burnley defending after a long ball over the top and skipped past O’Shea to smash one in for the first goal of the game. Semenyo then sealed the contest with a deflected effort late in the second half. Burnley’s 75% possession and 1.53 xG counted for very little today with Bournemouth coming out on top with a lower xG of 1.10. That’s Burnley’s 11th home defeat of the season, which is now the most they’ve lost at home in a single league campaign in the club’s history, and paints a dooming picture for not only their next game away to West Ham but also the remainder of the season. Bournemouth, on the other hand, will be looking to build on today’s clinical performance as they host bottom of the table Sheffield United next matchday.
