Liverpool moved to within three points of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with a win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secured the three points at the Amex and closed the gap at the summit before Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Crystal Palace on Monday evening.
January arrival Diaz opened the scoring with a brave header before a dangerous challenge from goalkeeper Robert Sanchez that he avoided sanction for. Top scorer Salah then wrapped up the victory from the spot in the second-half after Yves Bissouma handled in the box.

15 mins: Liverpool are trying to get Alexander-Arnold into the game more. He knocks a cross into the box that gets cleared by Lewis Dunk. The visitors haven’t quite got up to speed yet, Brighton seem more intense, more physical with their play. Steven Alzate challenges Sadio Mane for a 50-50 ball but arrives late and takes out the man.

12 mins: Trent Alexander-Arnold slides the ball into the box for Mo Salah who knocks it inside towards Sadio Mane. Mane turns it towards the near post but Robert Sanchez drops low to push it wide. Better from Liverpool.

9 mins: Save! Lamptey brings the ball down the right and plays it inside to Mac Allister. He lays the ball across to Trossard who checks inside and curls a right-footed strike into the arms of Alisson. This is a good start from Brighton.

6 mins: Chance! Solly March flicks a cross into the box and finds Neal Maupay who nods a header wide of the back post. The ball gets kicked into the Brighton half and the goalkeeper claims it before booting another long ball forward. Alexis Mac Allister flicks it on to Maupay who finds himself in space just outside the Liverpool penalty area. He rolls the ball onto his right-foot and drills a decent effort just wide of goal!

3 mins: Leandro Trossard makes a run over to the left side of the penalty area and comes up against Trent Alexander-Arnold. He can’t shimmy around the Liverpool right-back so knocks the ball to Marc Cucurella who curls in a first-time cross and sees Joel Matip head it clear for the Reds.

Kick off: Liverpool get the match started with a diagonal pass up to Sadio Mane. He flicks it on to Luis Diaz but is unable to whip a cross into the box. Tariq Lamptey takes over and slots the ball up to Solly March who gets clipped from behind by Naby Keita and wins a free kick.
