This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Brighton have now had a couple of big calls go against them. First it was the free-kick from which Foden scored, then that Gross penalty shout. The hosts have started the second half brightly.

Brighton tend to dominate possession in games, but they have had just 34 per cent of it so far today. Albion did manage two attempts on target in the first 45 minutes - a low Welbeck shot early on and then a Dunk header straight at Ederson. Guardiola now has the luxury of rotating his side a little should he wish, which is further bad news for Albion as the likes of Doku and Grealish are watching on.

Manchester City take a commanding 3-0 lead into half time at the Amex Stadium. De Bruyne opened the scoring with a delightful header - the first he has scored with that part of his body in the Premier League - before Foden added two more from a free-kick and then a well-taken finish. That second Foden goal came as a result of Brighton failing to successfully pass the ball out from the back, which has been a theme of the game for them. It is surely now a case of damage limitation for the home side in the second half.
