Brentford vs Tottenham LIVE: Premier League result and final score today
Spurs travel to the Gtech Community Stadium as they prepare for life after Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur gave new manager Ange Postecoglou a rollercoaster Premier League debut when they started life after Harry Kane with a 2-2 draw in their opening game at Brentford on Sunday.
New signing James Maddison, taking on departed captain Kane’s number 10 shirt, pulled the strings in midfield and provided two assists as Spurs took the lead, fell behind and came back for a point with all the goals in a lively first half.
Cristian Romero headed the visitors in front in the 11th minute, after a long VAR check for possible offside, but Bryan Mbeumo equalised 15 minutes later from the penalty spot and the Bees were 2-1 up in the 36th after a deflected Yoane Wissa shot.
Tottenham, who said farewell to Kane when the club’s record scorer signed for Bayern Munich on Saturday, then made it 2-2 in first-half stoppage time when Emerson Royal lashed in a pass from Maddison.

Following a frantic first half packed with goals and incident, Brentford and Tottenham play out a tense 2-2 draw in their first fixture of the new Premier League campaign. Spurs' new style, post-Kane and with Postecoglou at the helm, saw the visitors make more successful passes in a single league game than in any match since January 2022, yet they could not find a winner against an obdurate home side. The spoils are shared, with the Bees perhaps more content with their point.

Brentford continue to defend their box expertly, and Spurs remain frustrated. The clock ticks down towards the final whistle.

Another chance is spurned by Richarlison, as the Spurs striker pokes a laboured shot straight at Jorgensen from the brink of the box. He failed to open up his body to create enough space to strike it cleanly - would Kane have found the bottom corner there?

Brentford waste a set-piece opportunity from the right flank, but they quickly regain possession. Then, Jorgensen flashes a lobbed cross from outside the box just past the far post, almost embarrasing Vicario, who can't quite get his fingertips to it.
