This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Brentford have won just once this season and have lost their last two fixtures in the Premier League. The Bees will host Arsenal in the third round of the EFL Cup before heading to Nottingham Forest in the league. As for Everton, they travel to Villa in the cup, where they lost 4-0 earlier in the campaign. The Toffees then welcome Luton Town in the league.

Tarkowski bagged a goal and an assist to help Everton to their first win of the season away to Brentford. Dyche's men started the game strongly and scored the opener through Doucoure. He made the most of Tarkowski's headed pass and blasted the ball into the net. The Toffees were in control of the match and should have scored again. McNeil struck an effort wide, with Mykolenko shooting straight at Flekken. Doucoure then rattled the bar before Frank's side found an equaliser. Jansen got on the end of Janelt's disguised pass and powered his low effort in off the post. Beto then had a scoring chance but made a mess of the finish and shot well wide. The Bees were sloppy after the break and Everton were able to punish them. Tarkowski scored against his old side, running away from his marker to power McNeil's corner past Flekken. The Toffees then netted their third four minutes later. Garner won the ball off Collins and found Calvert-Lewin, who finished the chance with composure.

Ghoddos curls a pass with the outside of his foot into the path of Olakigbe, who rushes towards the byline and into the box. Danjuma tracks his run and makes contact with his shirt before releasing it. Olakigbe goes down but nothing is given. The 19-year-old has shown a couple of bright moments in this game since being introduced.

Norgaard finds Mbeumo on the right, who cuts inside before swinging a cross into the box. Branthwaite is in the middle and clears it away with his boot.
