The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Meanwhile, Wilder has made five alterations from the Blades’ 2-0 defeat away to Chelsea in the Premier League. Sheffield United head to Villa Park in search of their first victory away from home in the Premier League this season. The Blades have endured a difficult start to life back in England’s top flight, and have won just once in their last six matches (D1 L4). Chris Wilder was recently appointed as manager and the Yorkshire side will be desperate to see the experienced boss turn things around, and a victory away to Emery’s men could see them climb off the bottom of the table and into 18th.

Villa host Sheffield United in a game where they will be hoping to continue their sensational run of form at home. The Midlands club have won each of their last 15 Premier League home games, which is the longest run in their league history. Unai Emery’s side have also had plenty of joy against today’s opponents and are unbeaten in their last 14 home league games against the newly-promoted outfit (W8 D6). A win would see Villa climb to the top of the Premier League table, even if temporarily, with Liverpool and Arsenal set to face each other this weekend.
